Kensington Palace

These are the famous gates to Kensington Palace where the tribute to Princess Diana was following her death in 1997.  The are truly beautiful. I'm in the great company of Adi Humphrey and Teresa Scheer.  The Palace just reopened this spring after extensive renovation. This is still the home of lesser royals.  Queen Victoria was born and raised here.  You see her bedroom where she was awakened to the news that she was the new monarch. She went on to reign for 63 years. After Victoria's husband died, she wore black the rest of her life.  Many of the displays were about her, from personal letters and official documents to jewelry and gifts.

Queen Anne had 18 children.  These tiny chairs represent her babies.  Sadly none of them lived past the age of 11 when William died.

Diana...another sad chapter in the palace's history.

The Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge are in the process of renovating space at Kensington Palace for their 20 room apartment. Hopefully this will be a very happy chapter for all of the Royal Family.

Very unique wallpaper in one part of the palace.

Lots of royal gear in the gift shops.  I didn't even check the prices!
