Triathalon

Today started with an attempt to watch the men's triathlon.  We didn't have much success.  The picture on the right shows our view of the water portion of the race.  Two British brothers were picked to medal in the event and the British spectators turned out in force.  The actual track was only visible when we walked across the restricted area where the guards were scooting people out of the way.  We could hear the bikes going by and the cheers but we were at least 12-15 rows back from the action.

Although the race escaped our view, we did have a chance to see many British fans showing their Team GB spirit. But there were hundreds of other fans with the same dilemma. At least my friend Adi Humphrey and I didn't resort to climbing trees to view the action. The British brothers, Alistair and J. Brownlee, claimed the gold medal and the bronze for Great Britain.  I can almost guarantee that the presence of the thousands of cheering British fans added to their success. I am happy that the British team has been successful in many different events.  The host nation puts a tremendous amount of effort and financial resources into hosting the games.  When their athletes win medals, it validates the total package. In traveling around London, people have been very positive about the Olympics being here.  No matter where I've been, people are sporting British logos and colors.
